Paper Pianos is a multimedia project co-created by composer Mary Kouyoumdjian and librettist Nigel Maister, with music performed by Alarm Will Sound and music director Alan Pierson. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Music, the work draws on taped interviews with refugees and refugee resettlement workers to tell a deeply moving story of dislocation, longing, optimism, and the search for safer harbours. This full-length performance was recorded live on February 25, 2023 at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) in Troy, NY.
