This album showcases Danish composer Axel Borup-Jørgensen’s mastery in creating complex, refined soundscapes for multiple guitars. Featured are “Entrée,” written for five guitarists, and two versions of “Enhjørninger” (Unicorns) for six guitars. Borup-Jørgensen’s compositions blend avant-garde techniques with poetic expression, reflecting his Swedish upbringing and musical journey. “Enhjørninger,” inspired by Renaissance tapestries, offers a unique listening experience with its flexible arrangement. Meticulously crafted and performed by the guitarists in CRAS, these works, captured using analogue recording techniques, reveal Borup-Jørgensen’s innovative approach, bridging tradition and renewal in Danish classical guitar music.
