‘How strange! I can very clearly feel the smell of snow.’ – Jean Sibelius

Surrounding nature formed an integral source of inspiration for Finland’s ‘national composer’ Jean Sibelius. Although he enjoyed following the changing seasons, Sibelius also suffered from depression during the winter months. This final instalment of Sibelius’ four seasons includes several of his winter-themed compositions, including his Christmas songs.
