Vocal Music (20th Century) - HOFFMANN, E.A. / HONEGGER, E. / NIGGLI, F. / LANG, W. / PESTALOZZI, H. (Hei Cho) (Bühlmann, Behle, Engeli)
In autumn 2024, Swiss soprano Stephanie Bühlmann recorded “Dialect songs on poems by Josef Reinhart” for the Richard Flury Foundation. Singing songs in her dialect left a lasting impression. This gave rise to the idea of dedicating a CD recording to the Solothurn folk writer Josef Reinhart, who celebrates his 150th anniversary on 1 September 2025. The aim of the recording was to preserve the Solothurn dialect, the work of Josef Reinhart and the compositions of many well-known to completely unknown Swiss composers: Richard Flury, Ernst Honegger, Emil Adolf Hoffmann, Walter Lang, Friedrich Niggli, Heinrich Pestalozzi and Karl Schell are the composers who have dedicated themselves to Reinhart’s poetry in very different ways. With Daniel Behle (a naturalised Swiss citizen who has lived with his family in Basel for many years and whose wife is from Basel), Stephanie Bühlmann has been able to inspire a world-class tenor for her project. The singer and composer Daniel Behle was named “Singer of the Year” in 2020 and received the German Record Critics' Honour Award in 2024 in recognition of his numerous solo albums. Stephanie Bühlmann has already successfully recorded the CD “Zauberluft – Air Magique” with the well-known Swiss pianist Benjamin Engeli. His great skill and experience in Swiss premiere recordings was a very enriching and inspiring component for everyone. In 2025, Prof Klaus Wloemer will publish a book about Josef Reinhart to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. Reinhart’s poetry and its settings transport the listener into the rural world at the turn of the century, into the world of the poor factory girl, for example, into the world of the poor farmer or fisherman, into the world of the working people and into their world of thought, into their everyday lives. Touching, funny, melancholy and cheerful at the same time. Simple songs that go straight to the heart.
