Mauricio Sotelo (*1961) is one of Spain’s most important and internationally recognized composers today. He has received numerous prizes for his music, including the Spanish National Music Prize in 2001, the International Reina Sofía Composition Prize in 2000, the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Composition Prize in 1997 and composition prizes from the cities of Hamburg, Cologne and Vienna

“Estelas en la mar“ (”A keel track in the sea“) is a work commissioned by the SWR Vokalensemble, written in 2022 and premiered in Germany in the same year, in the Gaisburg Church (Stuttgart).
