BUFALETTI, F.: Piano Works (Génot)
This very interesting monographic recording is dedicated to the figure of Federico Bufaletti, a forgotten artist and main exponent of that Neapolitan piano school that at the end of the nineteenth century moved to Turin.
The album is based on an in-depth investigation into the dual role of the Bufaletti composer and pianist:
CD1 includes his complete piano works and works dedicated to Bufaletti by exponents of the Italian piano school such as Alessandro Longo, Costantino Palumbo, Gaetano Foschini, and Pietro Floridia.
The interpreter is pianist Massimiliano Génot, already appreciated for having brought to light the piano works by Giuseppe Unia (Tactus TC812101)
On CD2 we have the recovery of rare recordings of the early twentieth century with Federico Bufaletti himself performing pieces by Scarlatti, Debussy, Mozart, Liszt, and others:

Tracks 4–6 are recorded from a 78rpm old album by “Grammofono” s 10465 (2ba 559-i, 2ba 560-i), reg. Milano iv.1935
Tracks 7–11 are recorded from Welte-Mignon, nn. 1907–11 «rote Rollen» (piano rolls), reg. Londra 25.ix.1909
