About the Malmö Symphony Orchestra

Founded in 1925, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is one of the leading major orchestras in Sweden. Performing the full breadth of the symphonic repertoire, the MSO collaborates with prominent international conductors and soloists. Since 2015 the MSO has resided in Malmö Live Concert Hall, a truly state-of-the-art facility known for its world-class acoustics. The MSO has won critical acclaim for its numerous recordings with leading record labels, including first prizes in competitions such as the Cannes Classical Award and the Diapason d’Or. Together with conductor Marc Soustrot, the orchestra has made extensive efforts to record all of Camille Saint⁠-⁠Saëns’ orchestral works.

About Marc Soustrot, Conductor

Marc Soustrot is considered a specialist of French orchestral repertoire. Formerly the principal conductor and artistic director of the Orchestre Philharmonique des Pays de la Loire, the Beethoven Orchester, Bonn, and Het Brabants Orkest, Eindhoven, he is currently chief conductor of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. He has worked at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, La Monnaie de Munt in Brussels, the Royal Danish Opera and the Norwegian National Opera. With the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, he recorded the complete symphonies and other orchestral works by Camille Saint⁠-⁠Saëns for Naxos. Marc Soustrot was honoured with the title Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 2008.
