2026 GRAMMY Awards nominations
November 17, 2025The Naxos Music Group is delighted to have received two nominations for the 2026 GRAMMY Awards.
Pianist Han Chen and conductor John Jeter are nominated in the Best Classical Instrument Solo category for their Naxos recording of Florence Price’s Piano Concerto in One Movement (8.559952). Han Chen responded to the news, saying “I want to thank Naxos Records for believing in me for this project. I’m especially honoured to be championing Florence Price’s music, as she is truly an underperformed great American composer from the last century. Super excited for the nomination and hoping for the best.”
John Jeter added: “We’d like to thank everyone for their support, as well as thank Naxos Records for their wonderful work on this project. A huge debt of gratitude goes to the Malmö Opera Orchestra for their wonderful artistry on this recording. And we must thank Sean Lewis for his amazing work as producer and recording engineer.”
Exemplifying commentary from the critics, American Record Guide noted that “The performance here by Han Chen is … dynamic and virtuosic, yet also warm and expressive … An enjoyable album.”
The second nomination, in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album category, is for the Prophone label’s album Lumen (PCD343). The recording features the Bohuslän Big Band, a Swedish jazz orchestra that has developed a reputation for both upholding and challenging the big band genre. The programme combines the music and performance skills of pianist Danilo Pérez, who is recognised globally as a jazz visionary. World Music Central captured the recording’s essence, hailing it as “a striking new release that brings together flavourful Pan-American rhythms, Latin jazz and Nordic big band traditions … [It] celebrates improvisation, experimentation and cultural unity, offering a rich set of global jazz influences.”
