South African Orchestral Works, Vol. 2

Gideon Fagan, a distinguished champion of music in South Africa, contributed to orchestral repertoire, notably in his classical Concert Overture and in the colourful tone-poem Ilala. W. H. Bell was an earlier pioneer of music in South Africa, where he settled in 1912, continuing his career as a composer on the technical basis acquired in London, where he was a student and later a professor of harmony.
