FAURÉ, G.: Piano Music for Four Hands (Volondat, de Hooghe)
Gabriel Fauré worked for many years as a music teacher at the Paris Conservatoire, where his pupils included Ravel, Enescu and Nadia Boulanger. As Director of the Conservatoire, this quiet man was responsible for the changes that took French music into the next century. His compositions reflected his personality, with piano scores of considerable charm and refinement. His best-known work in this genre, the Dolly Suite, has the uncomplicated and delightful character of music for children.
