KROMMER: Partitas for Wind Ensemble Opp. 69, 76 and 79
Krommer composed symphonies, masses, string quartets, quintets and, most significantly, music for wind band. This continued the Central European tradition of writing music that was frequently intended to be played and heard out of doors. Like many musicians from the Moravian, Bohemian and Czech heartlands, Krommer had a complete understanding of the various families of wind instruments. His compositions for wind band are tuneful, elegant and above all to be enjoyed.
