BACH, J.S.: Violin Concertos, BWV 1041-1043 and BWV 1052
The requirement to produce a vast amount of music for his church appointments left the most famous eighteenth-century German composer, Johann Sebastian Bach, with little time to compose secular music. Yet he was to write violin concertos that are included among the great works composed for the instrument. Nothing in the Baroque era can transcend the sublime beauty of the Double Violin Concerto, the quiet repose of the central movement reaching the peak of musical perfection.
