SPERGER: String Symphonies
One of the leading double bass players of his time, Sperger was employed by various noblemen and in Vienna, before settling in 1789 at Ludwigslust as a member of the ducal music establishment. He left 45 symphonies, a number of concertos and a quantity of chamber music, writing in general in the Austrian style of the late eighteenth century. The three symphonies on this disc here receive their world première recordings.
