Granados was a prolific composer. He composed operas, symphonic poems, numerous works of chamber music, many songs and a large number of pieces for the piano. Today he is universally recognised as one of Spain’s most important composers. His music is essentially romantic, with some nationalist characteristics. His musical voice is instantly recognisable and entirely his own. This recital, the fifth in the Naxos edition of his complete piano music, contains music from throughout Granados’s career, with a bias towards the later years.
