DEBUSSY, C.: Clair de lune and Other Piano Favorites (Thiollier)
Debussy was one of the most influential and innovative composers of the 20th century and the most important composer of piano music since Chopin. This collection, compiled from François-Joël Thiollier’s recording of the complete works for piano (Naxos 8.553290–94), takes its title from Debussy’s most famous work, the radiant Clair de lune (‘Moonlight’) and includes such other favourites as The Little Shepherd and the Golliwog’s Cakewalk written for the composer’s daughter, Emma-Claude, and the glittering Reflets dans l’eau.
