GOTTLIEB: Love Songs for Sabbath / Three Candle Blessings / Psalmistry
Award-winning composer Jack Gottlieb ranks at the forefront of American music, both for his theatre and concert works as well as his works of Jewish inspiration. The world-premiere recording of Love Songs for Sabbath, a deeply personal and artistic setting of Sabbath liturgy, combining the spoken word with music, is performed by celebrated actress TOVAН FELDSHUH (four Tony nominations Best Actress, four Drama Desk, and numerous other awards), who is also the featured speaker for the Three Candle Blessings welcoming the Sabbath. Jack Gottlieb’s mastery of classical and popular idioms is delightfully apparent in Psalmistry and Shout for Joy – lively, jazz-influenced choral works that celebrate life.
