In 2003 Akanè Makita was the second prize winner in the Claudio Arrau International Piano Competition, held in Chile on the hundredth anniversary of Claudio Arrau’s birth. Her concert engagements as soloist have brought performances in France, Canada, Japan, Chile, Iran and Italy. She has recorded for RAI (Italian National Television and Radio) and other television and radio stations. As a chamber musician, she has collaborated with Alter Ego Ensemble, the Monesis Ensemble (both specialising in contemporary music) and with the first violinist of the Quartetto Prometeo. She has also served as accompanist for master-classes by many distinguished musicians, including Domenico Nordio, Bruno Giuranna and Alessandro Carbonare. She has been the pianist of the Le Monde Ensemble and since 2009 has been a member of the Trio Le Melarance. Akanè Makita was born in Japan and began to study the piano at the age of five. She graduated at the S. Cecilia Conservatory of Rome, the Accademia Pianistica of Imola and Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome. Her artistic development owed much to Fausto Di Cesare, Riccardo Brengola, Jacques Rouvier (Nice International Music Academy), Franco Scala, Boris Petrushansky, Charles Rosen, Fou Ts’ong and Sergio Perticaroli.
