ANDREA DE VITIS
Andrea De Vitis is considered one of the most talented guitarists of his generation. He studied with Leonardo De Angelis, Paolo Pegoraro, Adriano Del Sal, Arturo Tallini, Oscar Ghiglia, Carlo Marchione, Frederic Zigante and Pavel Steidl.
He has won over 40 awards at several prestigious competitions, including the Guitar Masters International Guitar Competition in Wrocław, the ‘Altamira’ Guitar Competition in Iserlohn, the Certamen Internacional de Guitarra Clasica Julian Arcas in Almeria, the Forum Gitarre Wien, the Concorso Internazionale di Gargnano and the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition. As a recognition of his artistic merits, in 2013 he received the ‘Golden Guitar’ award for the best up-and-coming guitarist of the year at the ‘Michele Pittaluga’ International Guitar Competition and Festival in Alessandria.
His intense concert activity has seen him perform critically acclaimed solo recitals in prestigious concert halls all over the world. He regularly performs with orchestras such as AUKSO – Orkiestra Kameralna Miasta Tychy (Poland), the Anima Musica Chamber Orchestra (Hungary), and the St Petersburg State Orchestra (Russia). He also frequently gives masterclasses at prestigious festivals, academies and conservatoires, including the Conservatorium Maastricht, California State University, the Royal Danish Academy of Music, the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart and Koblenz Guitar Festival.
In 2015 he released his debut album, Colloquio con Andrés Segovia (‘Conversation with Andres Segovia’) for the DotGuitar label. The album received excellent reviews in international magazines, and in 2016 was awarded the prestigious ‘Golden Guitar’ award for Best CD at the ‘Michele Pittaluga’ International Guitar Competition and Festival in Alessandria. Andrea De Vitis has been a D’Addario artist since 2014.
