ARS ATLÁNTICA

The Ars Atlántica ensemble is directed by harpist Manuel Vilas and performs music from the 12th to the 18th century, with particular emphasis on the Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Latin American repertoires.

Its first album was a critically acclaimed world premiere recording with mezzo-soprano Marta Infante of cantatas from the Venetian Palazzo Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta (Enchiriadis). The ensemble’s complete recording for Naxos of all one hundred songs in the 17th-century Guerra Manuscript comprises six volumes, of which this is the fifth. With vocal quartet Vandalia, Ars Atlántica has also recorded Hirviendo el Mar, an album of Spanish Baroque vocal music, released last year by IBS Classical.

In the summer of 2019 the ensemble is appearing at several Spanish festivals with a programme celebrating the 400th anniversary of the birth of Barbara Strozzi.
