Born in the French city of Troyes, Bruno Forst began his piano and organ studies with Paule Rochais in Cognac. After studying philosophy he took up a place at the Bordeaux Conservatoire, working with Francis Chapelet and winning a gold medal. Through his analysis of original sources, study of historic performance practice, and ongoing work with other performers, instrument makers, musicologists and historians, he aims to gain as clear an idea as possible of the way in which keyboard music was performed between the 16th and 18th centuries.

Passionate about Iberian music, Forst lives in Spain, although his career as a performer takes him around the world, from Europe to the US, Mexico and Latin America. He has made several acclaimed albums of Iberian repertoire for Brilliant Classics and, with Dairea Ediciones, has published the first modern edition of Gonzalo de Baena’s Arte novamente inventada (1540). He is currently working on further volumes of previously unpublished Iberian music.
