Charles “Chip” Hamann, born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1970, has occupied the Principal Oboe chair of the National Arts Centre Orchestra since 1993. High school studies at Interlochen were followed by a Bachelor of Music and the Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He has appeared as soloist many times with NACO and orchestras throughout North America. He was guest principal oboist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2008. He is on the faculty at the University of Ottawa.
