The Montréal-based Ensemble Transmission is a collective of six musicians who are independent artists, thinkers and producers: Guy Pelletier, flute; Lori Freedman, clarinet; Alain Giguere, violin; Julie Trudeau, cello; Julien Gregoire, percussion; Brigitte Poulin, piano. Ensemble Transmission plays mostly modern and contemporary music from solo to sextet (without conductor). Since its foundation in 2008, the ensemble’s ability to give finely nuanced performances gained immediate attention within the Canadian and international musical communities. They have toured in France, Cyprus, the United States and across Canada. Ensemble Transmission is attentive to young emerging artists, supporting both performers devoted to new music and composers. The ensemble’s first commercial recording, Transmission, includes works by Leroux, Donatoni, Essl, Harvey Murail and Xenakis and is distributed through its website. Transmission is the ensemble-in-residence at Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur de Montréal.
