ERIKA RIBEIRO (b 1982 )
Based in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian pianist Erika Ribeiro is considered one of the most prominent musicians of her generation. Placing first in ten piano competitions in Brazil and a prizewinner in more than twenty, Ribeiro has performed extensively in her native Brazil, as well as in Europe and in the US.
Ribeiro’s knowledge of Brazilian music is complemented by a deep grounding in European repertoire, with a special affinity for Mozart, Beethoven and Ravel. A truly versatile artist and a passionate chamber musician, she has attended music festivals in the US, Switzerland and France, where she received the highest honours in performance at the Fontainebleau Academy.
Erika Ribeiro studied at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin and holds a master’s degree in music from the University of São Paulo. Currently, she is a professor of piano and chamber music at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO).
