(b 1971 )

Born in Münster in 1971, Friedemann Eichhorn appears as a soloist with distinguished orchestras and conductors, and as a chamber musician has collaborated with Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer and Boris Pergamenschikow. His discography includes several world premiere recordings, including duos for violin and cello by François Servais, Friedrich Hermann (with Alexander Hülshoff) and works by Arnold Mendelssohn and the Reger pupil Johanna Senfter. His recordings of Violin Concertos by Pierre Rode have been received with great acclaim. His discography features tango programmes as well as complete works for violin and piano by Franz Liszt (with Rolf-Dieter Arens). A professor at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar, Friedemann Eichhorn is director of the International Louis Spohr Competition and, since 2012, of the Kronenberg Academy Master Studies. He studied with Valery Gradow in Mannheim, Alberto Lysy at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland and Margaret Pardee at The Juilliard School in New York, and was greatly influenced by Hiroshi Nishida and Saschko Gawriloff. Friedemann Eichhorn holds a doctoral degree in Musicology from the University of Mainz, contributes entries to dictionaries, and researches and edits music for Schott-Verlag. Together with Jonathan Frohnen he has edited an anthology of forgotten Beethoven Violin Concerto cadenzas (Ries and Erler). On this recording he plays a violin by Wolfgang Scharff (1995).
