FRIEDEMANN EICHHORN (b 1971 )
Friedemann Eichhorn, born in Münster, Germany, studied with Valery Gradow at the University of Music in Mannheim, with Alberto Lysy at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Gstaad, Switzerland, and with Margaret Pardee at The Juilliard School in New York.
He performs with many renowned orchestras including the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and has played under the baton of Yehudi Menuhin. He is also a regular guest at festivals and has played together with Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet and Boris Pergamenschikow.
His albums, the first four volumes of Rode Violin Concertos on Naxos [8.572755, 8.573054, 8.570767, 8.570469], were highly acclaimed.
Friedemann Eichhorn is professor of violin at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar and artistic director of the Kronberg Academy. Alongside his concert performances, Eichhorn is also a committed musicologist. His doctoral thesis was on Gidon Kremer. He has written lexicon articles and edits scores for music publishers such as Schott Music and G. Henle Verlag. He plays a violin by Domenico Montagnana.
