Heather Schmidt’s unique dual talents as a pianist and composer have won praise from the press. Her career spans performances, broadcasts, commissions and awards in North America, Mexico, continental Europe and Russia. Originally from Canada, she studied piano and composition at the Juilliard School and at Indiana University, where at the age of 21, she became the youngest student to receive a doctorate. She regularly performs solo and chamber recitals, and concertos, including her own six piano concertos. She has numerous recordings to her credit, and has been featured on television, including Bravo’s The Classical Now, and Redstar Films’ Synchronicity. As a composer of music for film and television her recent credits include projects in Toronto and Los Angeles. In addition to guest lecturing worldwide, she is active as a performance coach, helping individuals in music and other disciplines achieve optimal performance.
