Pianist and harpsichordist Hernán Milla was born in Toledo in 1979. He studied in his native city with Ana María Sancho and Ludmil Angelov, then at the Madrid Conservatory with Guillermo González, who sparked his interest in Spanish music, particularly that of Isaac Albéniz. He continued his studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Hamsa Juris, Hanna Aho and Eero Heinonen. His discography includes live recordings for Finnish National Radio and for Siba Records, as well as CDs such as 20th Century Spanish Music for Flute and Piano and Donde Nace La Luz, an album on which he also earned a songwriting credit and which was recognised by Cubadisco and the Latin GRAMMY®s. Hernán Milla has won first prizes and other awards in national and international competitions, both as a soloist (José Roca, Jacinto Guerrero and Jóvenes Artistas de Castilla-La Mancha competitions) and a chamber musician (Melartin Lied and Mirabent i Magrans competitions). He has performed throughout Spain and in Finland, Germany and Canada. A member of the ILMA Ensemble, he also teaches at the Ciudad Real Conservatory and as part of Spain’s Music Education Institute (IEM).
