JAVIER RIBA (b 1974 )
Javier Riba is professor of guitar at the Conservatory of Music in Córdoba. He has performed at the Gran Teatro de La Habana, the Jamai Palace in Fez, the National Auditorium of Madrid, the Music Museum of Barcelona and the Gran Teatro in Córdoba, and with orchestras under the direction of Leo Brouwer, Lorenzo Ramos, Manuel Hernández Silva and José Luis Temes. His first album La guitarra soñada featuring the music of Isaac Albéniz, received critical acclaim and was selected for a Latin GRAMMY®. For his second album Aljibe de Madera, Riba received the Segovia Medal from the Andrés Segovia Foundation in Linares. Firmly committed to contemporary music he has premiered several works dedicated to him by the composers Angelo Gilardino, David del Puerto and Juan de Dios García Aguilera. Javier Riba has coordinated the commemorations of Antonio de Torres (2007) and Angelo Gilardino (2011) for the International Festival of the Guitar in Córdoba and has edited the two volumes dedicated to these two fundamental figures.
