Praised by Gramophone magazine, German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser has performed with the world’s leading orchestras. His album releases have garnered numerous awards, including the prestigious Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and a Diapason d’Or.

Renowned for his efforts to expand the reach of the classical genre, as well as his passionate focus on new music, Moser has been heavily involved in commissioning works. In 2011 he premiered Magnetar for electric cello by Enrico Chapela with the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, and took part in the European premiere of Gubaidulina’s Triple Concerto with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich in October 2017. His most recent album, Felix & Fanny Mendelssohn, was recorded with Alasdair Beatson, and an upcoming chamber music project with Vadim Gluzman and Yevgeny Sudbin is due to be released on BIS. Upcoming engagements include Walton’s Cello Concerto, which he will perform with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and two world premieres of cello concertos by Bernd Richard Deutsch and Andrew Norman.

Moser is artist-in-residence with the Oregon Symphony for the 2019–20 season.
