MARTIN MITTERRUTZNER

The Austrian tenor, Martin Mitterrutzner, was trained by Brigitte Fassbaender, and from an early age as a treble by Howard Arman. In 2007, he was awarded the Eberhard-Wächter Medal of the Vienna State Opera. He was member of the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck before joining the ensemble of Oper Frankfurt in the 2011–12 season.

He guested as Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Opernhaus Zürich, made his debut as Brighella in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos and sang Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte both at the Salzburg Festival in 2012 and 2013. Furthermore, he guest performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper, at Vienna’s Theater an der Wien and returns regularly to Dresden’s Semperoper.

Martin Mitterrutzner sings a broad concert repertoire, ranging from works by Bach and Handel to Benjamin Britten and contemporary composers. He has already managed to achieve an excellent reputation as a Lied singer with recitals at Oper Frankfurt, the Philharmonie Cologne, the Heidelberger Frühling, London’s Wigmore Hall and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg.
