PARNASSUS ENSEMBLE

Parnassus Ensemble London was founded by Peter Sheppard Skӕrved whilst he was still at school, in 1984, and gave its last concert in 1996. It was composed of a cross-section of the most adventurous musicians emerging in Europe. Its members have gone on to develop pioneering careers as soloists, chamber musicians, conductors and orchestra principals. The ensemble specialised in conductorless work, and an extremely broad range of repertoire, as well as instrumental configurations. They gave the premières of many pieces, including works by John Woolrich, Nigel Clarke, Hans Werner Henze, Melanie Daiken, Matthew Taylor, Jörg Widmann, and Detlev Glanert, among others.
