Reto Kuppel has performed throughout Europe and the United States and has appeared as a soloist with many German orchestras, including the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Concertino Hamburg, the Ensemble Haar and the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

He studied with Andreas Röhn at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, and with Dorothy DeLay at The Juilliard School in New York. He studied chamber music with Ralph Gothóni, Herman Krebbers and Felix Galimir.

After winning the Château de Courcillon International Violin Competition he was invited to play at many festivals across Europe. His world premiere recordings of works by Schubert (Naxos 8.572322), Friedrich Hermann (8.572066) and Ferdinand David (8.573048), and his solo album of works by Vieuxtemps (8.573339), have been highly acclaimed by critics and audiences alike.

For almost two decades Reto Kuppel has served as concertmaster of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. He is currently professor of violin at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg, Germany.
