SCOTT ORDWAY (b 1984 )
Scott Ordway is an American composer and conductor. Much of Ordway’s work is inspired by landscape, both physical and cultural, and he has undertaken collaborative, place-based projects in Tunis, Mexico City, Detroit, Philadelphia, and northern Maine. His output is diverse, including three symphonies and two choral-orchestral settings of the mass; recent work is hailed as “an American response to Sibelius” (The Boston Globe), “a welcome austere moment” (The Portland Press Herald) and “wild and distant” (Boston Classical Review). Ordway is based in Philadelphia where he is a member of the faculty at the Curtis Institute of Music.
