Tobias Koch’s musical creed is to employ curiosity and unprejudiced versatility to try to get to the bottom of the mystery of sound. His focus is the expressive possibilities of historic keyboard instruments, of which he has a large collection of his own. But rather than just playing pieces appropriate to the period, he also rounds out his performances with modern works.
Tobias Koch has appeared as a soloist, Lieder accompanist and chamber musician at major festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Ludwigsburg Festival, Verbier Festival, the Chopin Festival in Warsaw, Rheingau Musik Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn, the Schumann Festival in Düsseldorf, Mendelssohn Day concerts in the Leipzig Gewandhaus and Early Music Days in Herne.
Tobias Koch received the Förderpreis für Musik der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf and scholarships from DAAD and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. He currently teaches at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, is involved in productions for radio and TV, gives masterclasses and has released over 40 albums.
