Darrell Ang conducting the Pacific Symphony March 23-25
March 20, 2017
Heading into trio of performances March 23–25, leading the Pacific Symphony of Costa Mesa, California, and still excited about being named music director of the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra last fall, Darrell Ang’s new recording of music by Henri Dutilleux with the Orchestre National de Lille is a highlight of Naxos’ March releases.
The repertoire for the concert in Segerstrom Hall: Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Chinese-American composer Huang Ruo’s Folk Songs for Orchestra, and Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto with Zhang Zuo making her Pacific Symphony debut.
Naxos fans will not be surprised to hear that the Sichuan Orchestra’s general manager Mu Ling Hong says the appointment of the young Singaporean was inspired by a Naxos recording of Ang leading the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in Zhou Long and Chen Yi’s Symphony Humen 1839.
