October 25, 2007
Johan Strauss Jr.‘s Fürstin Ninetta received a rare staged performance and recording at the Berwaldhallen in Stockholm, Sweden, on 7 October 2007. The operetta was originally staged at the famed Theatre an der Wien in Vienna in 1893. Following its première, Fürstin Ninetta successfully ran for several dozen performances.
The Stockholms Strauss-Orkester, with Valéria Csányi from the Budapest Opera House leading the orchestra and choirmaster Bo Wannefors leading the chorus, were joined by a cast of singers including Swedish soprano Tua Åberg in the title rôle of Ninetta.
The recording of this performance was produced by Berth Vestergård and engineered by Gert Palmcrantz.
