Viennese-born conductor Georg Tintner studied at the Vienna State Academy with Felix Weingartner (conducting) and with Josef Marx (composition). During a long career, which included periods in New Zealand, Cape Town, London, Australia, Canada and appearances elsewhere around the world, he received many prestigious awards and touched the hearts of many with his unique musical vision. The long-awaited volumes 8, 9 and 13 of Naxos’s Tintner Memorial Edition will be available from December 2010 onwards for streaming and downloading only, not to be issued on CD.
