Gramophone Awards 2011 – shortlists announced

August 19, 2011

Gramophone has announced the shortlist for its annual Classical Music Awards. This year Naxos earned two nominations in the Orchestral and Solo Vocal categories.

Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko—named Gramophone Young Artist of the Year 2007—with his Liverpudlian band was a top three nominee in the Orchestral category for the Shostakovich Symphony No 10 (Naxos 8.572461). This was not totally unexpected, given that the recording has earned many of the music press’ top accolades since its release.
