From June 6 to June 10, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Judd recorded works by Zemlinsky and Antill at Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre. Zemlinsky’s Mermaid coupled with his Sinfonietta will be released in early 2007. The ballet Corroboree [ritual dance ceremony of the Aboriginal] is the best-known work of Australian composer John Antill [1904-1986] and was first performed in 1950. It will be released coupled with the composer’s Outback Overture. Both recordings were produced by Tim Handley who, this year, won a Grammy for Producer of the Year.
