Naxos of America to Distribute Naïve

Naxos of America is pleased to announce that they will begin distributing the Naïve family of classical labels in July. Founded in 1998, Naïve has established itself as a leader in classical music recordings.  The five classical sub-labels (Naïve, Astrée, Opus 111, Montaigne and Traveling) collectively encompass a catalog of over 700 titles, exploring all genres of classical music – early, medieval, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, modern and contemporary.  Naïve continues to add to its repertoire with nearly 35 new releases each year.  Naxos of America joins its counterpart Select Music in distributing this ground-breaking family of labels.

On the new distribution agreement with Naïve, Naxos of America president Jim Sturgeon comments, “The Naïve labels are noteworthy for innovative approach to repertoire selection, artistic integrity, superb performances and exquisite packaging.  Reception by the press and public has been tremendous in the 5 years since Naïve launched.   Sales of Naïve product in the US last year through HM were approximately $1 million.  We believe, with our strong retail presence and comprehensive distribution system, we can exceed those numbers in the first 12 months and help Naïve grow to become one of the key players in the classical music marketplace today.”

The first Naïve new releases to be distributed by Naxos of America will be available in July.  They include a new version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons featuring Rinaldo Alessandrini and the Concerto Italiano, and a disc of works by Rachmaninov and Ravel performed by the gifted, young pianist Lise de la Salle, as well as releases by Pierre Boulez and Pascal Dusapin.  In August, Naxos of America will release Naïve’s Accentus: Transcriptions, which features Barber’s “Agnus Dei,” a moving transcription of his own Adagio for Strings.  Other August releases will include La Veritá in Cimento and a collection of Vivaldi’s Motets -- two new additions to the acclaimed Vivaldi Edition.
